Massage Envy Announces Expansion To Hawaii
First Center to Open on Oahu in 2011 and Others Over the Next
Several Years
Scottsdale, Ariz. (February 24, 2011) - Massage
Envy, the pioneer and national leader of affordable and convenient
massage and spa services, announced today the signing of a
multi-unit Regional Developer agreement with Nathan McFarland and
Lari Jarvis for the development of 5 to 10 new centers in Hawaii.
This is a new region for the company, which experienced
unprecedented growth in 2010.
Massage Envy's development throughout Hawaii is part of a steady
and strategic plan being implemented by the brand, which includes
expanding in existing markets while entering new cities across the
country to help drive the growth of the world's largest system of
franchised massage centers.
McFarland and Jarvis are long-time colleagues who previously
worked together in sales for Wells Fargo. Both excelled in their
responsibility for highly productive territories, including Hawaii.
They are now residing in Hawaii and beginning to work towards
opening their first Massage Envy center on Oahu later this
year.
"We look forward to introducing the Massage Envy concept to Hawaii
and expanding the company's presence throughout the islands," said
McFarland. "Our goal is to provide our guests the ability to take
charge of their own health and wellness through Massage Envy's full
range of convenient, affordable and professional spa and massage
services."
In 2010, Massage Envy opened 43 new locations, bringing the
total number of locations currently to more than 660 units
operating in 43 states. In addition, since introducing its Massage
Envy Spa® concept in late 2009, the company has opened or converted
a record of more than 300 spa locations in 37 states. Despite the
recession, Massage Envy also has experienced a 29 percent growth in
membership, increasing from 701,000 members in 2009 to over 900,000
members in 2010.
In fact, last year, the company performed its 20 millionth
massage. Net sales for franchisees have grown as well. For the 530
centers that have been open for more than 12 months as of Dec. 31,
2009, they have averaged $885,700 in annual net sales. The company
also is the world's largest employer of licensed/registered massage
therapists with more than 16,000 therapists providing over 250,000
massages every week.
In addition to the development agreement mentioned above, Massage
Envy is seeking new and existing franchisees to expand across the
U.S. with Massage Envy Spa. To fuel this growth, the company is
looking for specific franchisee candidates who have the ability and
the desire to learn and follow a system that ensures value and
customer satisfaction.
"Massage Envy welcomes Nathan McFarland and Lari Jarvis to the
Hawaii market," said Massage Envy CEO David Humphrey. "They have a
proven track record of producing results. Our success in Hawaii
will stem directly from their passion to provide affordable and
accessible massage therapy and skincare treatments for guests who
recognize the importance of maintaining a balanced lifestyle
focused on wellness."
