Massage Envy® Hosts 3rd Annual "Massage for the Cure"
Benefiting the Phoenix Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the
Cure
Phoenix, Arizona - July 5, 2007 - Massage Envy
clinics throughout Metropolitan Phoenix will host their third
annual Massage for the Cure event on Monday, September 17 to offer
free one-hour therapeutic massages to help in the fight against
breast cancer. All proceeds collected that day will benefit the
Phoenix Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
The event is open to the public and requires an appointment at
any of the 17 Valley Massage Envy clinics. The suggested donation
is the value of the massage ($49), but any amount will be accepted.
Several vendors will donate their products and numerous therapists
will donate their tips for the day. All proceeds from Massage for
the Cure will support breast cancer research, as well as breast
cancer education, screening and treatment initiatives in central
and northern Arizona.
In just two years, Massage for the Cure has raised nearly
$100,000 to support local breast cancer efforts. Last year, the
1,744 massages performed in one day raised more than $58,000. This
year, Massage Envy's goal is to maintain maximum occupancy all day
at each of its Valley locations and increase the amount of funds
raised for breast cancer efforts.
"Massage Envy is extremely proud to be a supporter of the
Phoenix Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the
partnership that we have developed to raise funds for breast cancer
efforts in our community" said John Leonesio, CEO and founder of
Massage Envy.
This year alone, more than 180,000 women and men in the United
States will be diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 40,000
will lose their lives to the disease. A woman is diagnosed with
breast cancer every three minutes and the disease claims another
life every 13 minutes.
"Due to the enthusiasm and dedication of Massage Envy owners,
employees and clients, Massage for the Cure is one our larger
fundraising efforts and we are incredibly grateful for their
support," said Pat Elder, executive director of the Phoenix
Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Appointments for Massage for the Cure can be made
beginning Monday, September 10 and are limited to one reservation
per person. Contact any Arizona Massage Envy clinic directly at
