Top National Health-Focused Franchise Hits Benchmark Of 500th Clinic
Massage Envy's 500th Clinic Opens in New Jersey
Scottsdale, Arizona - November 6, 2008 -
Massage Envy, ranked #38 in the 2008 Inc. Magazine's 5,000 Top
Health Companies category, will hit a benchmark this week. The
leader in offering affordable massage in clinics across the nation
will open the doors of its 500th clinic in Branchburg, NJ today,
November 6th.
Massage Envy began with the idea of making the health benefits
of professional massage therapy both convenient and affordable,
stated Massage Envy CEO David Humphrey. This business has grown in
leaps and bounds in a short period of time and has even inspired
imitators. I am delighted by the enthusiasm of our franchisees and
the loyalty of our 435,000 members, who helped us achieve this
milestone.
The 500th clinic, located at 3150 Route 22W in Branchburg, NJ,
is owned by Bob Jenkins and his sister, Sue LaBuda. Teri Jenkins,
Bob's wife, also opened two Massage Envy clinics in New Jersey this
year, one in Warren and one in East Brunswick. Massage Envy has
become a family business for the Jenkins, as Teri's sister manages
one of the clinics; her brother and mother-in-law have both
invested time and money; and her sons even help out at the front
desk when not at school.
Their interest was sparked, just three years ago, when Teri had
her first Massage Envy experience while visiting her son in Arizona
after a snow storm back East delayed her flight home. A good friend
of mine bought me a gift card to Massage Envy because she loved it
so much, said Teri Jenkins. From the moment I walked in the door, I
knew I wanted to open one myself. Teri and Bob had previously spent
19 years in the pharmaceutical industry. We were looking for an
opportunity and we felt that we had the right background in health,
sales, operations and customer service to open a business like
this. It's all about creating an experience for the customer.
Massage therapy is a multi-billion industry, according to
statistics from the American Massage Therapy Association. Massage
Envy plans to take advantage of that growth by continuing to open
clinics and offer convenient, affordable and professional massage.
The company's goal has always been to de-mystify the massage
experience and have it become a part of everyone's overall health
regime. Regular massage can boost the immune system and lower heart
rate and blood pressure, and recent research shows it can aid in
the treatment of depression and anxiety, arthritis, carpal tunnel
syndrome, insomnia, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and
other conditions.
