Massage Envy® Raises $2,762 For Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Mid-Missouri Affiliate On Massage For The Cure Day
Columbia Massage Envy location provided 76 free massages to
benefit breast cancer research
St.Louis, Missouri - September 1, 2006 -
Massage Envy® partnered with the Mid-Missouri Affiliate of The
Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation for Massage for the Cure
Day on August 7. Massage Envy raised $2,762 by providing 76 free
therapeutic massages on a donation-only basis at the Columbia
Massage Envy location.
"Massage Envy® is thrilled about the success of Massage for the
Cure Day," said John Leonesio, founder and CEO of Massage Envy®.
"Too many women have lived in fear of breast cancer for far too
long. Our partnership with The Komen Foundation raised much needed
dollars to fund mammograms and breast cancer research in Missouri
and it is my hope that our annual event will raise awareness about
the importance of early detection and early treatment of breast
cancer."
Local media celebrities rallied behind the event to show their
support for The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation local
event. Teresa Snow, Stephanie Schaefer, and Michelle Linn from
Channel 17 (ABC-KMIZ) and JC from the Zimmer Radio Group made
appearances at the Columbia Massage Envy location.
"It was a privilege to partner with Massage Envy: Massage for
the Cure to create such a spectacular event for the community,"
said Kay Lindner of the Mid-Missouri Affiliate of The Susan G.
Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. "What a wonderful way to raise
awareness for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and our
efforts to eradicate breast cancer as a life threatening disease.
We look forward to a great partnership for years to come."
Massage for the Cure began in the Arizona region, headquarters
of Massage Envy®, in 2005. Massage Envy® selected Columbia/St.
Louis as the next host cities for Massage for the Cure and it will
now become an annual event.
"The outpouring of support for Massage for the Cure Day was
humbling," said Pat Quinn. "All Massage Envy locations were booked
to capacity, which illustrates how determined people are to find a
cure for breast cancer. It will be an honor to present a check to
the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation."
