Massage Envy Franchising, Llc Signs 68 New Franchise Agreements
National Leader of Massage and Spa Services Opens Clinic in
44th State
Scottsdale, Ariz. (September 1, 2011) - Massage Envy
Franchising, LLC -- the pioneer and national leader of affordable
and convenient massage and spa services -- announced today
continued growth in 2011, selling a total of 68 franchises and
opening 43 clinics since January 1st.
The company also marked another milestone when it opened a
Massage Envy Spa in Sioux Falls, South Dakota - the 44th
state in which the brand has established a presence. In
addition, Massage Envy recently signed a new multi-unit regional
development agreement in Alaska with Gregg and Debbie Olsen.
This recent growth brings the total number of Massage Envy clinics
to 699 in the U.S., making it the largest system of franchised
massage clinics in the industry. This year, Massage Envy average
unit volume surpassed $1 million and experienced year-over-year
growth of 25 percent.
"The Massage Envy brand continues to expand and thrive in 2011,
and is on-track to surpass last year's impressive growth numbers by
year end," said Dave Crisalli, President of Massage Envy. "This
growth can be attributed to our commitment to delivering tremendous
value and profitability to our franchise partners, as well as
driving even greater value to our members and guests in the form of
consistently high-quality massage and facial treatments."
Also, during the second quarter of 2011, the company named Dave
Crisalli as president of Massage Envy. Crisalli, who has
served as COO of Massage Envy since 2004, recently assumed the
additional role of president and will lead the company's continued
growth and success. During his tenure as COO, Crisalli has
led Massage Envy's day-to-day operations.
"I have had the privilege of serving as COO for the past seven
years and appreciate the confidence our ownership group has in
expanding my leadership role as president," said Crisalli.
"We will continue our mission of expanding Massage Envy's
footprint, making massage and spa services even more accessible to
customers nationwide and we will remain focused on the double
bottom line of delivering real value to members and guests, as well
as profitable growth for our franchise partners."
In addition to Crisalli being named president, Massage Envy
expanded its franchise development team. Lori Merrall, who
joined Massage Envy over a year ago, has been promoted to national
director of franchise sales, and Jesse Curry joins the team as
director of franchise sales. Both play an integral role in
helping the company achieve even greater expansion throughout the
U.S.
To fuel growth, the company is looking for specific franchisee
candidates who have the ability and the desire to learn and follow
a system that ensures value and customer satisfaction.
Qualified franchisee candidates should have business sales or
management experience, but do not need to have a massage therapy or
spa operations background. They also should possess a minimum
net worth of $500,000 and liquid assets of at least $150,000.
Massage Envy and Massage Envy Spa franchisees can expect their
initial investment to range from approximately $343,000 to
$568,000, including the franchisee fee.
Massage Envy is the world's largest employer of
licensed/registered massage therapists, with more than 16,000
therapists providing over 250,000 massages every week. The
company only employs licensed, registered and certified massage
therapists who are trained to provide a variety of therapeutic
massage treatments. Open seven days a week, each Massage Envy
offers convenient times and locations. An average location is
approximately 3,000 square feet and is typically located in
shopping centers with national, daily need and female-oriented
retailers.
