Healing Hands Hits Home

As Healing Hands for Arthritis quickly approaches, we checked in with our Midland, Texas clinic to see how they’re preparing for the big day.

Left to Right: Kevin Evans,LMT; Adriana Vargas, LMT; Perla Porras, LMT; Susan Caby, LMT; Allison Fraser, ACA; Katie Lopez, SA; Tanda Turpin, Esthetician.

Allison Fraser, Assistant Clinic Administrator at the Midland Massage Envy Spa, and her family know the devastating impact of arthritis firsthand. Allison’s brother has lived with Rheumatoid Arthritis for over 20 years, since the age of 13. When he was just 21 years old, he had to have his hips replaced and sadly, his knees are next. The heavy burden of arthritis – the pain, disability and cost – is something he continues to live with every day. He’s never been able to work or even drive a car.

Allison has watched her brother live in debilitating pain for the last 20 years. And last year, she was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia – a syndrome in which a person has long-term, body-wide pain and tenderness in the joints, muscles, tendons, and other soft tissues. She has turned to massage in the past to help relieve some of the achy symptoms.

Through it all, Allison has learned to not take anything for granted, especially being able to easily walk and move around. She’s taken Healing Hands for Arthritis under her wing and is determined to make the event a big success – not just for her and her brother…but also for the millions of others living with arthritis.

The Midland Clinic has 14 therapists and 2 estheticians signed up for the event. $10 from every massage and facial on October 12th will go to the Arthritis Foundation to help fight the disease.

Other local Midland businesses have already pledged their support and plan to come out for the event as well. A local fitness gym – Super Shapes and Iron Fit, will be on hand to give advice on how to get moving and stay in shape. The clinic will also have a Rolling Video Game Trailer parked outside for kids while parents are enjoying their treatments. The local Arthritis Foundation branch, Permian Basin, will be set-up with information on arthritis and how to preserve joint health. Not to mention, there will be two different radio stations doing live remotes and encouraging the community to come out to the event. All in all, the Midland clinic is expecting a Healing Hands for Arthritis Block Party!

It’s not to late to make your appointment and support such a worthwhile cause. Visit http://www.massageenvy.com/healing-hands-for-arthritis.aspx to find your closest Massage Envy and schedule your massage or facial for October 12th today!
