How to Achieve a Healthier You

Any time of year is a great time to make positive changes in your life that will result in a healthier, happier you. If you are looking to improve your mental and physical well-being, here are a few things to consider:

1. Grab Some Shut Eye. Working in the recommended nightly dose of seven to eight hours of sleep sometimes can be all it takes to improve your outlook on life.

2. Give Some Time. Volunteering your time and talents can give you a great feeling of satisfaction, as well as build new relationships and improve your outlook on life.

3. Shed Some Stress. Whether you detox yourself of tension through regular exercise, meditation or massage, letting go of some of your stress will make you healthier.

4. Eat Some Veggies. Changing your diet to include more fresh fruits and veggies (maybe even go meatless one day!) will give you body a great nutritional boost that can help lower your calorie intake, as well as the amount of fat and cholesterol you ingest.

5. Breathe Some Fresh Air. No matter what the season or the weather, spending some time outdoors can do wonders for your mood and your health.

6. Learn Some New Tricks. Part of a healthier you comes from expanding your horizons. Try some new thing you have always wanted to do—whether it is learning a new language, taking golf lessons or trading your crossword for Sudoku—and watch your mind expand.

7. Drink Some Water. Not only will adding more water to your diet cut down on the calories you consume, but also it can improve your skin.

8. Incorporate Some Movement. Adding 30 minutes of moderate exercise to your lifestyle, five days a week, will help elevate your mood and keep you healthier in the long run.
