When the treadmill and elliptical machine get boring, and new music downloaded to your iPod isn’t helping much, it may be time to switch up your fitness routine. Ask a personal trainer and they will tell you that it’s important to change your regimen from time to time to get the best results from your workout. We researched some of the latest fitness trends gaining popularity with fitness enthusiasts all over the country.
First on our list is AntiGravity Yoga. This is a fitness class that adapts the poses of traditional yoga for a large silk hammock raised off the ground. The weightless poses can be used to strengthen the core as well as relieve aching joints and stretch tight muscles. Not to mention, it is easier on the wrists than traditional yoga.
Not ready to swing from the sky? That’s ok. You may want to try substituting traditional dumbbells for Kettlebells during your next workout. These are popular with CrossFit trainers and you can bring them anywhere for a break from the gym.
Ditch the workout, join that party – that’s Zumba’s mantra and we’re all about it! Zumba®is an exhilarating, effective, easy-to-follow, Latin-inspired, calorie-burning dance fitness-party that’s moving millions of people toward health. Find an instructor near you by clicking here.
If you love to run, join a run club. Nike hosts Nike+ Run Clubs in about 10 different states. Runners of all levels are welcome for a variety of routes and distances. You can also search for a run club near you on Meetup.com.
Last on our list of fitness trends are Kangaroo Jumps. These low impact rebound sport shoes are a little funny looking, but certain celebs and fitness gurus are big fans. Select gyms actually offer Kangaroo Jumps classes. Check out this video to see the shoes in action.
