One on One with Dr. Murad

Our first guest blogger, Murad founder Howard Murad, M.D., talks to Touch of Wellness about maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

As a dermatologist, my goal has always been to teach people how to have the beautiful, healthy skin that they deserve. We all know that feeling good about the way we look is one of the keys to leading a happier healthier life. That goal of helping people have better lives is what motivated me to create special skincare formulas to treat my patients, which is what gave birth to Murad Skincare and all of the wonderful professional and retail products that now bear my name.

In much the same way that I have spent my time and energy preaching the gospel of good skincare, my friends at Massage Envy Spa have been helping people to understand that the physical and emotional benefits of personal care services like massage, are real—and something that everyone deserves to experience, not just the privileged few. That’s why I think the partnership between Murad Skincare and Massage Envy Spa has been so productive.

People now come to Massage Envy Spa locations all over the country to experience Murad® Healthy Skin Facials once or twice a month. This has introduced facials to tens of thousands of people who had enjoyed massage but never had experienced the benefits of professional skincare.

I believe that looking and feeling your best is the byproduct of whole body wellness—a state that requires topical skincare, internal nutritional support and emotional self-care. While massage, professional skincare and retail skincare products to care for your skin at home, cover topical care and emotional care, property nutrition shouldn’t be neglected. A diet full of colorful, water rich and antioxidant rich fruits and vegetables will have a huge impact on every part of your life. A key group of antioxidants found in yellow, orange and red foods, the carotenoids, has in fact been shown to visibly change the look of your skin. Recent studies show that the skin of people who eat a diet high in carotenoids is perceived as having an attractive, healthy hue. One more reason to eat your veggies!
