Spring Cleaning Room by Room

Spring is here! You know what that means? Besides warmer weather and beautiful flowers in bloom, it is time for spring cleaning. If you don’t have a whole weekend to dedicate to freshening up your home, we suggest taking your time, going room by room.

Start off small by collecting a pile of clothes to donate. Begin with your own closet and then move to others around the house, including your linen closet.

When you’re ready, head to the bathroom next. Discard all items that have expired including medicine, cosmetics and beauty products. Hopefully this will free up space below your sink to better organize your toiletries.

Now on to the kitchen! Also look for expired items, including spices and frozen food, and discard. Wipe down refrigerator shelves and drawers that often get overlooked when cleaning, and don’t forget about the microwave.

Banish dust bunnies in your living room. Take couch cushions outside and gently shake to remove dust. Grab a friend or family member to help move furniture to make vacuuming all the nooks and crannies a bit easier. Be sure to dust the tops of ceiling fans as well!

Have a tip to make spring cleaning less of a chore? Leave us a comment! Also visit Woman’s Day for a printable spring cleaning checklist. And don’t forget, your house doesn’t need to be spic-and-span in just one or two days. Take your time and don’t let spring-cleaning stress you out.

  4. We just spent all weekend doing yard work and now I’m cleaning the carpets in the house. I’m guessing after the carpets are finished, I should start on a deep cleaning of each room. Oh and throw all the “normal” chores on top of that! LOL
