Yoga is the perfect complement to routine massage therapy. Why? Because both yoga and massage therapy have many health benefits and when combined they can really help increase the overall quality of life for a person.
For example, both massage therapy and yoga have been proven to reduce stress as well as increase flexibility. They both also aid in pain reduction and increased physical fitness.
Similar to massage therapy, there are many different types of yoga. Below are some of the most common practices that you may want to begin incorporating into your wellness routine.
Bikram Yoga – Get ready to sweat! Bikram yoga, also known as hot yoga, is taught in a 105 degree room. There are 26 poses that are focused on proper alignment. Beginners may get the urge to leave the class early to escape the heat. It’s best to stay in the room, lay down with your eyes open, so that your body can get used to the temperature and reap the health benefits.
Hatha Yoga – Ready to wind down after a long day? Take a Hatha yoga class. This practice is great for beginners, as it is typically slow-paced and focuses on a variety of slow, gentle poses. Hatha yoga also helps build the foundation for strong breath work – essential for all yoga classes.
Vinyasa Yoga – This is a favorite of many yogis. Vinyasa is a fast-paced class that usually starts with a series of sun salutations. No two classes are ever alike. Vinyasa yoga is great workout that will leave your muscles and joints feeling loose and healthy.
Ashtanga Yoga – Often referred to as power yoga, Ashtanga is physically demanding. It’s ideal for those looking for cardio and sculpting. Many athletes incorporate Ashtanga yoga into their fitness routines to improve flexibility and build strength.

I can highly recommend Ginny as a massage therapist at Round Rock North. I have been having pain in my left shoulder, so she gave special attention to that site and really made me feel better. Thanks, Ginny!
