Banish Bad Moods

When you're in a foul mood, it seems as if badness follows badness. Truth is, if something happens to make you feel grouchy, or even if you don't know why, you often have the power to positively reposition your perception. Wellness expert and author Susan Biali, M.D., includes a few tips in her blog on PsychologyToday.com.

Listen. Music is a major emotional motivator for many people. So when you want to-need to-feel good, pop in a favorite CD or queue up a make-you-move MP3.

Laugh. Turn that frown upside down with a hearty chuckle or two. Research is beginning to affirm that spontaneous laughter connects people in positive ways.

Relax. What's better than imagining yourself on a massage table? Actually being there. Make your appointment today at Massage Envy to experience the release of stress-reducing endorphins.

Sleep Tight Tonight

You know that you need eight hours of sleep per night, yet life finds a way to cut into that precious time. You might not know, however, that lack of sleep adds to your risk of heart disease. If you're having trouble getting enough rest, try these tips:

Drink less coffee and soft drinks.Stuck in the cycle of drinking caffeine to stay awake during the day, but then feeling wired at night? Have your last sip of caffeine at least two or three hours before bed.

Get into a routine. Go to bed and wake up at the same times every day, even weekends. With your internal clock in rhythm, your body will tell you when it's time to hit the hay.

Create a sleep sanctuary. You need a dark, quiet place to sleep. Shut off the TV and computer and eliminate distracting lights and sounds.
