Seeking pain relief, one woman finds emotional healing through
massage
KEEPING A POSITIVE ATTITUDE in the midst of
life-changing circumstances can be challenging for many people. "I
never used to put any stock in that," admits Kristynn Bellamy, a
28-year-old administrative assistant in Bountiful, Utah.
Her challenges weren't easy to dismiss: she had endured five
years of chronic pain due to fibromyalgia mixed with the
aftershocks of divorce.
"The physical pain and emotional hurt were so bad, I didn't want
to live," Bellamy says. "I became angry and bitter. I was just a
very sad person."

At Bellamy's first massage appointment, the therapist noticed
that she looked sad and asked her what was going on. "I told her
about the anniversary and my abusive ex-husband," Bellamy says.
"She recommended Cranial Sacral Therapy."
Since receiving that first massage, Bellamy says her life has
changed. "I felt an amazing peace I haven't felt since at least
before I was married."
Regular massage also has made an impact on Bellamy's
fibromyalgia symptoms. Her headaches are much less frequent and
she's noticed less muscle tension and fewer leg cramps. In addition
to the physical benefits, Bellamy continues to find emotional
healing from regular
fibromyalgia massage. "That's what I look forward to most," she
says. "Every time, it renews my resolve that I can endure
life."
The mind-body benefits of massage have far exceeded Bellamy's
expectations. "Now my family and friends want to be around me
because I am so much happier, kinder and friendlier," Bellamy says.
"I never believed anything like this could happen with
massage."
