Indulging for Under 100 Calories
Sometimes, it feels as if the world could explode if you don't
find the nearest source
of chocolate. But at the same time, you struggle with that inner
voice reminding you to
stick to your healthy eating plan. "Choose the carrot sticks!" the
voice urges.
Even a registered dietitian can relate to such turmoil. "What's
important is satisfying
your cravings," says Dee Sandquist, R.D., spokeswoman for the
American Dietetic
Association. "Just be sure to make the calories count. If it's a
square of dark chocolate,
then sit down, relax and savor every bite."
And get this: You can have five Hershey's dark chocolate kisses
and still come in
at 100 calories.
Other snack-worthy options that will net you 100 calories or
fewer:
- Two graham cracker squares with 2 teaspoons of peanut
butter
- A half-cup of fat-free ice cream
- One 2-inch slice of angel food cake
- 2 tablespoons of hummus and 12 grape tomatoes
