Ask For What You Want in a Massage

Massage therapists are trained to know how to provide the
therapeutic touch your body needs. But they're not mind-readers, so
they welcome your feedback.
"I always ask the client before the start of the massage what their goal for the
session is and if there are any areas that need special attention,"
says Martina Wojak-Piotrow, LMP, lead therapist at Massage Envy in
Olympia, Wash.
If your therapist doesn't ask, speak up for yourself. Art De
Vera, a massage therapist at Massage Envy in San Ramon, Calif.,
says it's helpful to know whether a client wants therapeutic
bodywork, relaxation or both.
