Keep "Bah Humbug" at Bay

Does the holiday season fill you with joy or make you want to
hide under the covers until January 2? Even the jolliest soul is
going to face some holiday stress, but giving yourself the gift of
self-care can keep you from getting wrapped up in it.
"Self-care is remembering that no matter what you have going on
in your life, you have to take care of yourself as a human being,"
says Amy Ahlers, author of Big Fat Lies Women Tell
Themselves. "Indulge in the things you feel passionate
about."
Maybe this means setting aside time for reading, meditating,
hitting the gym or getting a Swedish massage -
whatever it is that makes you happy. It also means setting aside
the things that don't.
"I have a friend who considers cross-country visits to her
in-laws 'oblications' instead of vacations," says Ahlers. "Think
about what it would be like to throw obligation out the window. Do
what you need to nurture your soul and your family's soul."
