Melanie Hansen

Melanie Hansen has served as the General Counsel and Executive Vice President of People at Zero Mass Water, Inc. since January 2019.  Prior to joining Zero Mass Water, Melanie served as the General Counsel of Massage Envy Franchising, LLC for approximately 6 years where she led the development of the company’s Commitment to Safety and helped grow the national franchisor to over $1.5B in system-wide revenue.  While no longer with Massage Envy, she remains passionate about helping maintain and improve Massage Envy’s Commitment to Safety through her service as a member of the Safety Advisory Council.  Before joining Massage Envy, Melanie served as the Chief Operations Officer and General Counsel for Esio Beverage Company, LLC, where she helped launch the Esio Hot & Cold Beverage dispenser in 2,400 Walmart stores across the U.S.  Prior to Esio, she served as a Director for Target Corporation, with full Profit & Loss responsibility for the $300 million Northern Arizona district of Target stores.  Melanie began her in-house career as the General Counsel for Cold Stone Creamery, Inc. in Scottsdale, Arizona.  She joined Cold Stone when the company had just over 200 stores in the U.S., and she was part of the original executive team that grew the company to over 1,500 stores in nine countries before its acquisition in 2008.  Before taking her first in-house position, Melanie practiced tax law at the Phoenix-based law firm of Gallagher & Kennedy.  She obtained her Juris Doctorate (Dean’s Honors) from Washburn University School of Law and her LL.M. (Master of Laws) in Taxation at the University of Missouri – Kansas City.  She is licensed in Arizona, Kansas, and Missouri.
